Leopolis Jazz Fest 2020
Leopolis Jazz Fest (Alfa Jazz Fest till 2017) – international open-air jazz festival, which is annually held in June in Lviv (Ukraine). The first festival was successfully held in 2011. Concerts featuring over a hundred world class musicians, performing on three stages in the city’s downtown area, over 100,000 spectators and around 200 accredited press reporters – this is story of the Leopolis Jazz Fest. The Guardian included festival in the list of the best European festivals.
The initiator of the festival was Mikhail Fridman, a businessman, co-founder of LetterOne, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Alfa Group Consortium. He was born in Lviv.
The title sponsor of the festival until 2018 was Alfa Bank Ukraine, and therefore the festival was called Alfa Jazz Fest. In 2017, it was decided to rename the festival for Leopolis Jazz Fest to indicate its venue (Leopolis is one of the ancient names of Lviv).
In addition to concerts of jazz musicians from around the world, jam sessions, master-classes and autograph sessions of world jazz stars take place during the festival as well.

Could Albania be the next hot festival destination? The folks behind Kala clearly think so. The second edition of this boutique festival trumpets its intimacy and exclusivity – only 2,000 people can attend (but don’t worry, this isn’t some Fyre Festival sitch). Dance on an array of private beaches, explore the Albanian Riviera or do yoga on the beach. Hotel accommodation is included, with prices dependent on how luxe you want to go.
Line-up includes Inner City (live), Jordan Rakei, Hercules & Love Affair, Joe Armon-Jones & Maxwell Owin, Hunee, Derrick May, Theo Parrish.
Primavera Sound 2019 Guide
Despite being a relatively young festival, the Primavera Sound Barcelona has carved out, with just right, a leading role in the Olympus of international festivals. The merit can be attributed to the character and physiognomy of the Festival; a markedly urban event, in which integration is the common denominator.
Integration as a maximum meeting point between artists and spectators; between people also of different generations. And here, then, that art meets music. And, music becomes union and sharing. Primavera Sound Barcelona is this … and much more.
The event was born in 2001, with the intent to celebrate the end of spring in the best possible way. Until 2005, the Festival took place in the Poble Espanyol location. The response to the terms of turnout, during the first editions, was such as to force the organizers to choose a different venue. From that moment, the Festival takes place at Parque del Fórum of Barcelona. A place worthy of an international event, facing the sea.
Great international artists have performed during the previous 17 editions; Pixies, Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, The National, Nine Inch Nails, Neil Young, Sonic Youth, Portishead, Pet Shop Boys, Echo & The Bunnymen, Lou Reed, My Bloody Valentine, El-P, Pulp, Patti Smith , James Blake, Cat Power, Public Enemy and many others.
The Carnival Of Venice
If you are looking for festivals in Europe featuring elaborate masks, the Carnival of Venice is the place to be. Although the festival has roots that are a millennium old, the modern version only began in 1979 as an effort to revive the culture of this great city. Today, almost 3 million people attend this 20-days long biggest festivals in Europe in March of endless parties and events across the city. There is a water parade, competitions inspired from old Venetian traditions, a grand ball, and a popularity contest for best mask design.
Carnival of Venice 2020 dates: 16 February – 5 March
Las Vegas How To Have Non Gambling Related Fun
“Why would anyone visit Las Vegas without gambling?”
You’ve probably heard that line a few times if you’re planning a non-gambling trip to Sin City.
Whatever your reason for choosing to avoid the casinos, you’re not alone. The crowds of people (and piles of tourist dollars) that flow into Las Vegas these days have less to do with roulette wheels and blackjack tables than ever before. These days, just 36% of all income on the Strip comes from gambling. Compare that to the mid-80s, when bets made up 60% or more of total Strip revenue.
The city is doing well, in spite of the reduced cash-flow at the casinos. Home prices are up – surprising news for a city hit hard by the burst of the housing bubble less than a decade ago. Unemployment is down – another surprise, especially considering casinos haven’t been in a hiring mood. The New York Times reported on this phenomenon last year.
Facts Why Inkjet Printing Is Very
When you first purchase an inkjet printer, they come with starter cartridges that are filled only halfway. This practice is done for a number of reasons, primarily to keep ink from spilling during transport. This practice is also used to encourage you to purchase more proprietary inkjet cartridges. It is more cost efficient to purchase higher capacity cartridges for your use.
The idea of inkjet printing has been present since the 19th century, but the technology wasn’t available until the 1950’s. Continuous inkjet printers were first used for medical strip chart recorders. The printers were first introduced by Siemens. In the 1970’s, inkjet printers for the consumer market were developed by companies like Epson, Lexmark, Hewlett Packard, and Canon.
The process of continuous inkjet printing has not caught on in the personal inkjet printer market because the method itself uses a lot more ink than necessary. Commercial printers use that technology to print mark and code packages, as well as address direct mail pieces.
The print heads for commercial inkjet continuous printers are further away from the paper, allowing businesses to print out banners, outdoor signs, billboards, and other large media. These printers can run up to $2 million in price, and can be up to 152 inches wide.

Dvd Replication For Dummies
DVD replication is a physical production process that involves actually pressing the discs during manufacture from a glass master. Replicated discs are also referred to as DVD ROM discs, with the ‘ROM’ standing for ‘Read-Only Memory’ (as opposed to DVD-R or DVD+R where the ‘R’ stands for ‘Recordable’).
The glass master is made of glass that has been coated by a chemical, which is burned off with a laser. The glass master is a ‘negative’ of the DVD and it is then coated with a molten nickel compound and turned into a ‘stamper’. The stamper punches tiny pits in the production DVDs that use molten aluminium as the reflective surface and polycarbonate for the remainder of the disc.
DVD replication is a very quick and cost-effective production method for larger quantities of discs (1000 or more). Due to the high setup costs this type of production is not suitable for smaller production runs. Replicated DVDs are then printed using a five colour silk screen or offset lithographic process, resulting in a very high quality disc.
The other main type of CD or DVD production is referred to as CD duplication or DVD duplication and is suitable for smaller production runs with quicker turnaround times. CD and DVD duplication involves burning blank CD and DVD media with a laser to add the file contents onto the discs.
Will The Democrats Be Able To Reverse The Online Gambling Ban
While getting the hang of new technology may overwhelm you at first, blogging is simple enough that nearly anyone can participate. Of course, there is a certain level of skill and creativity involved with developing a captivating blog, but you can learn what you do not know and cultivate your skills to really get your message across to website visitors.
If you are interested in blogging, but you don’t particularly like to write, try starting a blog about one of your creative talents. You could try a photography blog and share your hobby with others. Or you may write poetry or music that you could post samples of. If people like what you have to offer, they will come back for more.
To garner more interest in your blog, a great idea is to comment on other blogs. If you like Google reader, create a separate folder in it for other blogs you’re following. Visit these sites regularly and, when you do, leave comments.
Harness the power of web 3.0. The web isn’t just text anymore, so neither should your blog. Use many different types of content to enhance your blog posts. For instance, if you are posting about a trade show in your niche, add a Youtube video of the event so that people can experience it more directly. If you are posting about a new product, include a Flash product demonstration.
A Pocket Pc Is Portability At It S Best
A Pocket PC is a handheld computer, which features many of the same capabilities as a modern PC. These handy little devices allow individuals to retrieve and store e-mail messages, create a contact file, coordinate appointments, surf the internet, exchange text messages and more.
Every product that is labeled as a Pocket PC must be accompanied with specific software to operate the unit and must feature a touchscreen and touchpad. Pocket PC products are created by some of the world’s top computer manufacturers, including HP, Toshiba and Gateway. As is the case with any new technology product, the cost of a Pocket PC was substantial during it’s early release. For approximately $700.00, consumers could purchase one of top-of-the-line Pocket PCs in 2003. These days, customers are finding that prices have become much more reasonable now that the newness is wearing off. For approximately $350.00, a new Pocket PC can now be purchased.
The Flash Tutorial
Flash is an incredibly powerful program but I discovered quickly that it was a difficult program to learn. Even if you are familiar with Adobe’s layout and style, many attributes are unique to Flash and can be very frustrating to learn without help.
If you don’t own a copy of Adobe Flash, you can download a free one-month version from Adobe’s website. Click here to go to their website. It’s a fully functional version which is really nice because you can jump right in and find out what the program can do.What is Flash and what can I do with it? What is Flash anyways? What does it do? Why would I need it? This video is a very beginner’s introduction to Flash. It describes how Flash relates to the web in conjunction with HTML, CSS, and other programing languages. The video also gives examples of Flash based sites as well as simple Flash components.
Flash Interface So I have the program now, where do I start? This tutorial is a simple explanation of Flash’s interface. Stage, timeline, properties panel, and tools are pointed out with a short description.

3 Simple Ways To Save A Bunch Of
Can you imagine what we will be downloading in another twenty years? I mean who would have ever thought that you could record sound with digital quality fifty years ago? Now we routinely download whole albums worth of music in a couple of minutes to ipods that hold thousands of songs in the space the size of a zippo lighter!
What I wonder is what will we download in the future? We can get degrees on line now, which means that we are actually downloading our future doesn’t it. Sounds kind of funny, but true to say that in the future we will be downloading our future. Will we download our jobs? I mean more and more people are working at home aren’t they? I could see the next wave of employment being over the internet where you never actually see your boss or maybe you will see him in downloaded form. That would be kind of weird wouldn’t it? It would be cool in the sense that you could be dressed however you want and you could be making funny faces at the boss and you wouldn’t even have to be behind his back that is unless you were being downloaded by your boss simultaneously. Weird!
How Does An Lcd Screen Work
You probably use items containing an LCD (liquid crystal display) every day. They are all around us — in laptop computers, digital clocks and watches, microwave ovens, CD players and many other electronic devices. LCDs are common because they offer some real advantages over other display technologies. They are thinner and lighter and draw much less power than cathode ray tubes (CRTs), for example.
But just what are these things called liquid crystals? The name “liquid crystal” sounds like a contradiction. We think of a crystal as a solid material like quartz, usually as hard as rock, and a liquid is obviously different. How could any material combine the two?
We learned in school that there are three common states of matter: solid, liquid or gaseous. Solids act the way they do because their molecules always maintain their orientation and stay in the same position with respect to one another. The molecules in liquids are just the opposite: They can change their orientation and move anywhere in the liquid. But there are some substances that can exist in an odd state that is sort of like a liquid and sort of like a solid.

Now, when American families hit the couch at 8 p.m., the TV is no longer king. Dad might be watching the big game live on ESPN, but little Becky and Billy are huddled around the iPad, streaming the latest Pixar movie from Netflix. Meanwhile, mom is on her laptop binge-viewing the entire season of her favorite reality show
Apple TV and Roku are the leading set-top boxes, but there’s a new player in town that’s vying for the increasingly fractured attention of the American TV audience, and its name is Amazon Fire TV. Keep reading to see how Amazon Fire TV works and how it measures up to the competition.
Academic Events Worldwide
A conference is generally understood as a meeting of several people to discuss a particular topic. It is often confused with a convention, colloquia or symposium. While a conference differs from the others in terms of size and purpose, the term can be used to cover the general concept. A convention is larger than a conference; it is a gathering of delegates representing several groups.
At a conference, innovative ideas are thrown about and new information is exchanged among experts. Its purpose could be one of the following:
- An academic conference is a gathering of scientists or academicians, where research findings are presented or a workshop is conducted.
- A business conference is held for people working in the same company or industry. They come together to discuss new trends and opportunities pertaining to the business
- A trade conference takes place on a larger scale. Besides businessmen, there are members of the public who come to network with vendors and made new connections. Such a conference consists of workshops and white paper presentations.
- An unconference differs from the traditional conference, since it avoids the high costs, top-down organizational hierarchy and sponsored presentations. All attendees are equally knowledgeable about the topic and the discussion follows an open mode; usually without a single speaker addressing the gathering.
Download Anything Now A Days
There are lots of useful things online that aren’t easy to download. Photos, music, videos, maps, and other exciting content don’t come with a download button. It’s also possible they’re no longer free or they may be gone from the web altogether.
We’ll show you how to download all the stuff from the web that you thought you couldn’t for free but without breaking the law. Google usually ban apps that are potentially malicious or deceptive but also object to apps that undermine its business model. Some apps are not available because of geo-restrictions. Also, the newer version of a particular app may not work well or has removed the features you need. You can download such apps from F-Droid and APKMirror.
While you should avoid installing apps from third-party app stores, these two marketplaces are an exception. They’re both community-run software projects and implement strict security practices to keep you safe from malicious apps.
To install the app, you’ve to enable sideloading. Read this guide on how to manually sideload apps on your Android device.

Typically, inventory types can be grouped into four categories: (1) raw materials, (2) works-in-process, (3) finished goods, and (4) maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) goods.
- Raw materials are any items used to manufacture components or finished products. These can be items produced directly by your business or purchased from a supplier. For example, a candle-making business could purchase raw materials such as wax, wicks, and decorative ribbons.
- Works-in-progress inventory refers to unfinished items moving through production but not yet ready for sale. In the case of a candle-making business, work-in-progress inventory might be candles that are drying and unpackaged.
- Finished goods are products that have completed the production process and are ready to be sold: the candles themselves.
- Maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) goods are items used to support and facilitate the production of finished goods. These items are usually consumed as a result of the production process but aren’t a direct part of the finished product. For instance, disposable molds used to manufacture candles would be considered MRO inventory.
As you’ll see below, there are other terms such as “decoupling inventory” and “pipeline inventory” used to describe types of stock based on its theoretical purpose and use. Nonetheless, physical inventory almost always falls into one of the four categories above.

Tips For Setting Salary As A Business Owner
The answer to this question may seem as simple as ‘Duh, I withdraw it from my small business account’ but, unfortunately, the reality is a little more complicated. As a business owner, you have two main options for taking home a salary and understand which option is best for you can have profound implications on your taxes, companies taxes and, ultimately, your company’s valuation.
What are my salary options as a Small Business Owner?
To pay yourself a salary or draw? That is the million-dollar small business question. The right option for you is primarily based on the legal structure of your business and your personal tax situation. Definition: A draw and a salary are both fine ways to pay yourself as the owner or operator of a small business. The primary difference is that a “draw” is an amount distributed from a sole proprietorship, partnership, or LLC without any tax deductions at the time of the draw. Whereas a salary is a payroll amount paid to you in the form of a paycheck with federal and state tax deductions, regardless of how you have filed your business entity. Read more about it here.
What should my small business do?
The fines for payroll tax errors are substantial enough to kill a small business. So, the first thing you need to do is speak with a qualified accountant or bookkeeper who will assess the revenue of your business, your personal income level, your financial needs, and the most recent legal changes to ensure you are paying the appropriate amount of taxes in the most efficient way possible.
How To Separate Personal & Business Finances
No matter what industry you’re in, money is the great unifier among small business owners. Whether you’re spending it, trying to keep track of it, or (hopefully) making it, money is always on your mind. And there are a few things every business owner needs to do in order to manage your money the right way—but nothing’s more important than separating your business and personal finances.
Sure, you could keep your business and personal finances together. You couldalso stick your hand in the oven to pull out a tray of brownies without an oven mitt. But, as you know, there’s a big difference between “could” and “should.”
Why should you be concerned about keeping your business and personal finances separate? Legal liability, easy bookkeeping, and good financial hygiene—both for you and your business alike. Establishing a financial firewall between you and your business (even if your business is just you on your own!) is pivotal for your own protection and sanity come tax time. And, above all, seriously important for protecting your personal assets.
How To Write Effective Invoice
An invoice is a commercial document issued by businesses to indicate a transaction, and request payment for the product or service provided. In today’s business world, there are certain expectations around how we talk about money. An invoice is a powerful communication tool that ensures payment in a timely manner, and also makes a good impression on clients, setting the stage for long-term relationships. This invoice template guide will discuss everything you need to know about invoicing, and why it’s important to get it right.
THE POWER OF A PROFESSIONAL INVOICE
Accurate billing is extremely important for anyone running a business. It can be the difference between building trust and doing more business with your customer, and leaving them with a bad impression because a small detail was left out, or misrepresented. Business owners who provide detailed, prompt invoices straight to the customer’s inbox come out way ahead in the credibility stakes. Here’s our tips on creating a professional invoice that builds trust with your customers:
Why Hiring Interns Can Benefit Your Business
Your company will benefit from an internship program if it’s a priority for your business, structured, and provides students with the supervision they need to be successful. By also providing adequate training before the program begins or hosting an intern orientation, you’ll see even better results. The more resources your company is willing to put toward the internship program, the better it will be. The better the internship program, the more competitive it will be. And the more competitive the program, the stronger the applicant pool.
Fresh Perspective
Drawing perspective from anyone outside of your industry, team, or day-to-day operations often courts surprising inspiration. Properly-executed internship programs are no exception. Bringing in students who don’t see your company from the inside every day opens up an opportunity for fresh perspectives on your business, strategies, and plans. To maximize these potential benefits, make sure to include interns in brainstorming sessions and encourage them to speak up in meetings. Attending brainstorms is often a favorite among interns, so it’s a win-win for both parties.
What Is UPI & How It Can Benefit Your Business
The Unified Payment Interface (UPI) can be thought of like an email ID for your money. It will be an unique identifier that your bank uses to transfer money and make payments using the IMPS (Immediate Payments Service). IMPS is faster than NEFT and lets you transfer money immediately and unlike NEFT, it works 24×7. This means that the online payments will become much easier without requiring a digital wallet or credit or debit card.
Currently, if you want to make a bank payment online, you have to enter their account number, account type, Bank name and IFSC code. Even if you have all these details, typing it all in, particularly on a phone, is a painful process. Most banks take upto 12 hours to add a new payee and only then you can make the transfer.
The idea behind the UPI is to do away with all of this. The interface will allow account holders across banks to send and receive money from their smartphones using just their Aadhaar unique identity number, mobile phone number or virtual payments address without entering bank account details.
According to NPCI, so far only 29 banks have agreed to start this service. If your bank is UPI-enabled, you can ask it to connect you to the system. To initiate a transaction, you can use two types of address—global or local. Global address includes your mobile, Aadhaar and bank account numbers. A local address can be a virtual address. Let’s say your bank gives you a virtual ID similar to your email ID (for instance, name@companyname). This virtual address will allow you to send and receive money from multiple banks and prepaid payment issuers.
Tip To Manage Healthy Cashflow In Your Business
Trying to run a business without managing cash flow is like trying to paddle a boat without an oar. Even if you succeed, it will be an upstream exercise guaranteed to wear you out.
Cash flow is important for all businesses, but it is critical for early startups. If you cannot manage your cash flow within the first year, you will likely not survive the second year.
The three key elements of your cash flow analysis include:
- Accounts receivable: What customers and clients owe you.
- Accounts payable: What you owe your suppliers.
- Shortfalls: You hope not to have these, but they do happen (see #3).
You must effectively manage all three if you want to navigate your business to success. Of course, the best direction to paddle a canoe is with the current. You’ll go faster and won’t wear yourself out. By the same token, your business will be healthier if you manage your cash flow toward the profit line. Here are a few tips to help you row your cash flow boat successfully:
1. Determine Your Breakeven Point
You should know when your business will become profitable, not because it will affect your cash flow — because it won’t — but because it gives you an early goal to strive for and a ready-made target for projecting future cash flow. Negative cash flow and negative profits make for a grim combination. Focus your efforts on managing your cash flow with an eye toward reaching that moment when you realize your first profits.
2. Focus on Cash Flow Management, not Profits
This may sound contradictory to #1, but it’s not. Use your breakeven point as a benchmark. After you reach breakeven and your business is profitable, you still need to manage your cash flow, of course. You have reached another stage of your business’s life.
How To Future-Proof Your Business
Last weekend, I wanted to watch a movie with my family. My wife was constantly asking me if I booked the tickets. I took my phone out from the pocket, opened the BookMyShow app and booked the tickets in few minutes. As I avoid driving during rush hours, I also booked a cab with couple of more clicks. Weekend is also when we need to stock up the grocery. So, opened the BigBasket app and ordered regular household stuff in less than 10 minutes.
What seems to be a normal behaviour today was not even a distant dream just 2 yrs back. Things have changed dramatically and it not only affected my behaviour as a customer, it caused an significant impact on the businesses as well.
Lot of business had to either change the way they work or shut down due to these fast changing environment. This brings us to an important question – Can we future proof our business? Can we increase the chances of business survival?
We can’t predict the future but we can definitely prepare our business to face unforeseen challenges. Here is a list of 8 strategies that can help you to future proof your business.
Why Visionary Leadership Fails
Building the right culture within their team and setting strategic direction that’s aligned to that of the organisation is vital for a leader to ensure the success of their team. However as the research in a recent HBR article (Why Visionary Leadership Fails, Nufer Yasin Ates et al, 28 Feb 2019), indicates the strategic alignment of leaders at all levels across the organisation cannot and therefore should not be assumed as a given.
All too often we see large organisations going through restructure after restructure. A change is made, it does not work and so we try again. However is it the change itself that is the problem or the commitment to that change? We know that a lack of decision in business can be highly damaging, delaying progress and delivery to our customers, however what’s so often more detrimental is when decisions are made but then there is a lack of commitment to their outcomes. This is more often than not because key players – at all levels – were not involved in those decisions in the first place. Without input from our colleagues we cannot possibly expect commitment. Gone are the days of the top down approach. We must listen to our customer, and leaders must not forget that your customers are those who you lead.
The 5 Things All Great Salespeople Do
Early in my sales career, there was a day when my boss watched me in action. I was a little nervous, but I still felt confident that I wouldn’t disappoint. Unfortunately, that’s not exactly what happened.
Without hesitation, he let me know that he felt I was just “sailing” by. It was enough to survive, but it wouldn’t make me successful.
That struck me to my core. I didn’t want to be good enough to survive. I wanted to be so great at sales that I put my competition to shame.
After that honest conversation, I took the time for some self-reflection to see where I could improve. I also did some research and asked other successful salespeople how they gained their competitive edge. It took some time — along with some trial and error — but I eventually came to the conclusion that great salespeople do the following five things.
I personally feel that this is one of the most important elements of success — whether that’s in sales or launching your own business. When you’re prepared, you’re better suited to handle every question, obstacle, or rejection thrown your way.
Of course, you can’t anticipate literally every setback. But you can start by jotting down a list of every question, obstacle, or rejection that you believe prospects will have. In other words, create a list of every worst-case scenario you can think of. Then, develop a clear, convincing response to every objection or question.
Understanding Inventory Control
Inventory management is a systematic approach to obtaining, storing, and profiting from non-capital assets (raw materials and finished goods). The right stock, at the right levels, in the right place, at the right time, and at the right cost.
Entrepreneurs, founders, and independent brands now live in a native commerce world where small-to-medium businesses compete against global conglomerates.
We’ve put together this definitive guide to inventory management to level the playing field and help you grow your brand with speed, scalability, and smart insights. You’ll find everything you need from inventory control basics to best practices and formulas to advanced automation processes.
Reclaim Your Creative Confidence
Most people are born creative. As children, we revel in imaginary play, ask outlandish questions, draw blobs and call them dinosaurs. But over time, because of socialization and formal education, a lot of us start to stifle those impulses. We learn to be warier of judgment, more cautious, more analytical. The world seems to divide into “creatives” and “noncreatives,” and too many people consciously or unconsciously resign themselves to the latter category.
And yet we know that creativity is essential to success in any discipline or industry. According to a recent IBM survey of chief executives around the world, it’s the most sought-after trait in leaders today. No one can deny that creative thinking has enabled the rise and continued success of countless companies, from start-ups like Facebook and Google to stalwarts like Procter & Gamble and General Electric.
Students often come to Stanford University’s “d.school” (which was founded by one of us—David Kelley—and is formally known as the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design) to develop their creativity. Clients work with IDEO, our design and innovation consultancy, for the same reason. But along the way, we’ve learned that our job isn’t to teach them creativity. It’s to help them rediscover their creative confidence—the natural ability to come up with new ideas and the courage to try them out. We do this by giving them strategies to get past four fears that hold most of us back: fear of the messy unknown, fear of being judged, fear of the first step, and fear of losing control.
Invoicing Mistakes That Most Startups Make
Each Startup proprietor knows the battle and significance of managing solicitations.
Cash is the center component of your business and you would prefer not to foul it up, particularly when you are simply beginning off, isn’t that so?
Everyone conveys a manual of all the correct things to rehearse in their business however it’s similarly critical to comprehend what to keep away from.
Invoicing isn’t an assignment that gives much incitement or energy, it’s an errand that gives a consistent stream of salary. It is essentially insufficient to convey records to your clients. Following up should be an innate piece of the procedure. Numerous clients will push your record to the side until the point that they require your administrations or you continue bothering them. Obviously, this isn’t by decision by and large but instead a matter of conveying their approaching accounts.
What Are Fixed Assets & How To Account For Them
Companies acquire fixed assets as long-term tangible property. These assets are used in daily business operations to generate income for the business. Often referred to as the ‘capital’ of the business, they include items such as machinery and plant equipment. Their defining feature is that they are not converted into cash in the first year of acquisition. Firms tend to invest in fixed assets for the following objectives:
- To enable the production or supply of business goods and services
- To act as rentals for third parties
- To be used in regular organizational workflows
People often ask how fixed assets are different from inventory. Business inventory is defined as any current asset in the financial database of your organization. Goods classified as inventory signify the company’s worth and can be easily cashed out to cover up any existing debts. For simplicity, inventory can be divided into four categories:
- Raw materials needed for manufacturing items
- Goods and services in progress
- Finished goods
- Maintenance, repair and operating supplies
As you can see, this is completely different from a fixed asset, which is often a finite, long-term investment. Another point that must be clarified is that fixed assets don’t have to be ‘fixed’ in the sense of being stationary or immobile. They can easily be moved around from one location to another, with vehicles and computer equipment being good examples of this.

What Is Bharat QR Code & How You Can Benefit From It
Post demonetization, the BharatQR payment mechanism has set a new benchmark being the world’s first interoperable payment acceptance solution. The integrated payment mechanism leverages the Quick Response (QR) code system for accepting payments from customers directly into merchants’ current accounts. It has been developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in collaboration with Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Rupay.
According to industry estimates, non-cash spending is expected to overtake cash spending by 2020. At Pine Labs we are committed to help merchants adopt digital payment methods. To drive electronic transactions, one of the biggest needs is infrastructure. And BharatQR essentially eliminates the requirement for capital and operational expenditure.
Here’s how your business can benefit from this method of payment:
Enable cashless transactions for customers without cards
Customers can carry out cashless transactions without any physical credit or debit card. Payments are made through smartphones having BharatQR-enabled banking apps. This payment system supports Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Rupay cards, and BHIM-UPI for wide acceptance. You can link multiple cards to your BharatQR supported bank apps and select any one of them based on your need.
All that customers need is an app with the BharatQR payment feature. To make a payment, they need to click the BharatQR icon, scan the QR code at your store, enter the amount and their 4-digit passcode. Viola! The payment is done. Once the authentication is completed successfully and on settlement, the amount is transferred to your account.
How To Calculate Depreciation In Your Business
A business that owns capital assets such as real estate, vehicles, equipment and furniture must calculate depreciation expense on those assets in order to deduct the cost of the assets. According to the IRS tax code, capital assets like equipment and furniture should be initially shown in the balance sheet of the financial statements and they would appear as equipment and furniture at their original cost. The deduction for depreciation expense is then taken over some specified period of time. There are several depreciation methods that can be used for this calculation. All depreciation is shown on Form 4562, and this attaches to the individual federal tax return.
Select straight-line depreciation if you want your business to have an even deduction for your capital costs over a longer period of time. For example, a piece of machinery that cost $70,000 is considered an asset with a seven-year life, and if the straight-line method of depreciation is taken, a deduction of $10,000 will be taken each year for seven years.
Select accelerated depreciation such as the 200-percent declining balance method if you’d like to take a larger deduction the first few years. This method is determined by taking the straight-line figure and doubling it. For example, if the straight-line method showed a depreciation deduction of $20,000, the double-declining balance method would allow $40,000 ($20,000 times 200 percent).
3 Important Financial Statements For Business Owner
Small businesses must be well informed to survive in a competitive environment and one of the vital competency they must develop is to read and understand important financial statements. Understanding essential financial statements such as ‘Trial Balance’, ‘Balance Sheet’, and ‘Profit and Loss’ statements is paramount as these are very important reports for small businesses to ensure their competitiveness in the market.
Running a business without understanding these financial reports is like driving a car without a dashboard. Let’s look into each of these financial reports in detail..
Businesses engaged in financial activities need constant information on a variety of parameters such as market demand, market share, price, competitive activity, cost of production, investment, cost of capital, and statutory levies. Of these, one of the most vital one is financial information such as revenues, costs, capital, salaries, loans and investments. If you take an example of a household, information on items such as salary earned by the principal wage earner, expenses incurred on running the household, school fees and price of vegetables would be some of the information required on a regular basis and this would constitute financial information.
One of the methods of collecting and storing financial information is the double entry method where for every amount of money transacted there will be a debit entry in one account and a credit entry in another account. All the accounts will either have a credit balance or a debit balance.
Dublin Tech Summit in April
Since the Web Summit left Dublin, it left a void that was waiting to be filled and Dublin Tech Summit was created to fill that void. For the first two years of its existence, it was held in Dublin’s National Convention Centre but if it was to expand or grow it had to be held elsewhere and this year it is been held in the RDS.
When you mention the words RDS and Tech Conference, the first thing you will be thinking of is Wi-Fi especially with around 10,000 attendees attending over two days. But bar a few minor hiccups there has been no major Wi-Fi issues and more importantly no long queues for some of the talks.
One major criticism the Dublin Tech Summit faced was having major speakers speaking at the same time, which forced you to decide which speaker you wanted to see. Thankfully this is no longer an issue and with various stages there are plenty of different talks that you can attend. Today most of the talks seem to be covering or mentioning two areas, AI and security. This is because AI is now powering a lot of the technology that we are using and will be using and GDPR has had a major impact on security.

Oktoberfest`s events 2019
The record-setting 2018 Oktoberfest was the Oktoberfest to end all Oktoberfests. But, lucky for us, it didn’t! Woop woop! Raise the roof your glass! Oktoberfest 2019 will go on as planned and it’s up to us to make this year even more epic than the last.
And how will we do that, you ask? By attending parades and concerts and contests (always shoot your crossbows responsibly, folks). By riding rides and watching guys with whips and trying new foods we can’t pronounce (just trust us on the dampfnudel). And by consuming more than 2018’s record 7.5 million litres of beer. It can be done! The time is now to plan your strategy—start here with the Oktoberfest 2019 schedule of (really awesome) events.
Oktoberfest 2019 Schedule of Events
Saturday, September 21st
9 a.m. | Oktoberfest begins! More or less! Beer won’t be served until noon so that gives you three hours to get your rear in gear. I hope you wore your running shoes and your… athlederhosen? Sure, that works.
11 a.m. | The Oktoberfest opening day parade works its way from the Marienplatz to the Theresienwiese. Tent owners, landlords, event hosts and their families (i.e. your new best friends), and the local breweries arrive to the Oktoberfest grounds on horse-drawn beer carriages. The lavish parade of about 1,000 participants is lead by the Münchner Kindl, Munich’s beautiful female monk mascot, because why not? To follow the parade, check out this map (red line).
Noon | O’zapft is! – That’s German for “Yay we can drink now!” In the Schottenhamel tent, the Lord Mayor of Munich has tapped the first Oktoberfest keg of 2019 – the most important item on the Oktoberfest 2019 schedule of events, no? It’s not until this happens that beer can be served everywhere else at Oktoberfest. Danke, Lord Mayor. Danke very much.
St. Patrick’s Day 2019
Whether you’re Irish or not, there’s a temptation to take part in celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day – a beloved tradition worldwide that sees thousands of people coming together to drink, dress in green, eat traditional food from Ireland and generally celebrate Irish heritage.
What is Saint Patrick’s Day, and where does it come from?
Saint Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick, is a celebration in honour of the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick.
The day of celebration, which marks the day of Saint Patrick’s death, was originally a religious holiday meant to celebrate the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and made official by the Catholic Church in the early 17th century.
Observed by the Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion, the Eastern Orthodox Church, and the Lutheran Church, the day was typically observed with services, feasts and alcohol.
eCPA is dead: Long live the incremental eCPA
Most players in the app marketing ecosystem have a very clear ROI model in place, but they launch campaigns without investing much time in defining attribution settings. They usually attribute conversions following the last impression or last click model, with some small variations regarding the attribution window.
So, what is the mistake many advertisers make? Trusting the attributed results without question. The problem also arises when those results are distorted and do not really show which partners or which actions are generating value and bringing in new users.
Current attribution models used by app tracking partners can be misleading because when you attribute to the last impression or the last click, you create an incentive for advertising players to serve as many impressions as possible or to generate as many clicks as possible. They can buy cheap and low-profile creative formats and low quality inventory, simply to increase their chances of getting conversions attributed to them. Some players might even go a step further and use illegal tactics such as forced clicks, click spamming, click flooding or anything that will make them appear as offering a fantastic ROI in the reporting tool.

Marketing Tools In CX strategies
CX (Customer Experience) is the discipline of mapping a customer’s entire digital journey and responding to it by creating as smooth, intuitive, and memorable experience as possible. But the importance of customer experience is far more than a definition.
At its core, good CX is about being able to predict what a customer wants, when in their journey they’re likely to want it, and meeting and exceeding their expectations at every touchpoint. So, when we think about customer experience management as a process and practice, the relevance of customer research starts to become obvious. Leveraging your existing data, even from cursory reviews of your Google Analytics, to create a compelling, trackable customer journey is not only the principle of a good CX strategy; it’s how you can create a compelling marketing strategy based on what your customers want.
Forrester found that companies who ranked highly on their CX Index, a compiled ranking of companies based on their commitment to quality CX, outgrew companies who scored at the bottom at a rate of five to one in revenue. This is because they’re deep-mining their data to meet customer where they are. In meeting their audience, these companies are also reverse-engineering the best ways to market to their audience. Marketing is CX and CX is nothing without data. Once you can align these offerings, you can see how superior CX can provide an unparalleled ROI.

Office Goals For Sales Marketing
Mobile wallet apps have traditionally operated in a closed loop mechanism. This means you and your customer both were required to install the same app to facilitate payment. Examples of such systems are mVisa, SBI Buddy, Paytm etc.
With the BharatQR system, specific wallet apps are no longer required. Your customer can now choose any app integrated with BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) and linked to his/her bank account. As a merchant, you just need the BHIM-UPI app for generating a unique BharatQR code. You can print and paste the code on your payment counter. Customers just have to scan the QR code to send money directly to your account. No other manual or electronic intervention is needed.
There is no risk of customers’ card details being exposed to anyone. There is no need to physically hand over a debit or credit card as it does not need to be swiped and hence this is no risk of data theft. There is no need to enter/reveal the mobile number or account details to make a payment either.
BharatQR makes transactions easier and more convenient for customers and merchants alike. For customers, BharatQR eliminates the need to use multiple QR codes from different payment networks when transacting with any merchant. Similarly, merchants only need to register with the bank for receiving payments through BharatQR and display a single QR code at the payment counter.
